About Daron Powers
From Struggles to Strength
My Totally Normal Upbringing
Raised in a dysfunctional household, I acquired many self-limiting beliefs, a nasty speech impediment, and was painfully shy and introverted. Other than that, it was a perfect childhood! But in all seriousness it seemed totally "normal" to me until…
I flunked out of college feeling I was not smart enough, or good enough, and that my life would never amount to much. I felt unhappy, dissatisfied, and wanted to be better—but felt emotionally blocked. I didn't know where to begin.
Embracing Change
During the time of my deepest depression I deliberately threw myself into a disciplined learning environment. I joined the U. S. Air Force. Later I completed a university degree in business, and attained a black belt in karate. A good start.
I persisted with intense study, dedicated practice, and immersed myself deeper into the martial arts, metaphysics, meditation, music, spirituality, and holistic health. These and other disciplines began the process of rewiring my brain, reshaping my self-image, mental fitness providing a healthy foundation. I learned the necessary tools to navigate my future to eventually be of more value to my family, the community and the world at large.
Applying Knowledge
I then wondered how I could practically apply my accumulated knowledge to a career while raising a family? I began working with a world-renowned training leadership and communications company.
Over the years, with expert coaching, and carefully chosen role models, I transformed into an effective businessman, speaker, and coach eventually impacting thousands of individuals in Fortune 500 companies and small businesses.
System For Development & Growth
Over time I developed a step-by-step mental fitness program titled Future Vision. The process incorporated an application of the body mind connection, positive psychology, acupressure, and neuroplasticity. The program was paired with practical tools for stress reduction, emotional freedom, and goal achievement. A forward thinking Fortune 500 organization (Ford Motor Co.) and many smaller businesses picked up the program and made it available to all of its associates.
Years later, along with many other successful projects, that program became two books (Future Vision Series) written and published during the pandemic. Today the Future Vision system forms the foundation for my speaking, teaching, and coaching for mental fitness.
A Work in Progress
What did I learn? (And still learning.)
Three things stand out as essential to my personal and professional transformation.
One: With focus, commitment, and proper guidance, my weakness became enduring strength and today creates transformative value for others.
Two: Respecting myself as an asset continues to be worth the time and money I invest for mental fitness, personal, and professional growth.
Three: Engaging with competent and caring mentors and coaches allows me to achieve things I likely would not have without their support and insight. I still hire coaches. I'm far from done with me.
As a result, today my mission is to continue to push my own boundaries for what’s possible and to support individuals and teams on a similar path to live their highest and best self. Indeed, I'm still a work in progress.
